Top created over a gold-coloured stretch satin bustier. The black and white geometric design drapery covering the bustier is in silk, as is the striped band finishing the neckline and the shoulder straps. The garment is closed at the back by a zip in the center. Over the right shoulder strap and sweeping across the front edge of the neckline rests a gold "festoon", hand-embroidered and of 19th-century French origin. This extremely valuable item is part of one of two festoons acquired in a very special purchase.
